Dr. Wei Xu is a Full Professor at Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He obtained Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010. In 2019-2025, he has leaded design, construction, and commissioning of the first dedicated inelastic X-ray scattering spectroscopy beamline (HEPS-ID33) at the 4thgeneration High Energy Photon Source (HEPS), China. He is the group leader of spectroscopy beamlines at HEPS as well as beamline responsible for HEPS-ID33. He was elected as a committee member of the Mössbauer Committee of the Chinese Nuclear Physics Society since 2017. He is also an associate member of the Rome International Center for Materials Science Studies (RICMASS) since 2015. He has co-authored more than 120 peer-reviewed papers spanning over instrumentation, methodology and applications of a suite of X-ray spectroscopies, including X-ray Absorption Fine structure spectroscopy, nuclear resonant scattering, resonant (non-resonant) inelastic X-ray scattering.
