THE REGGE TRAJECTORY OF MESONS AND THESU(4) MASS RELATIONS

  • A relativistic equation of motion of a two particle system under the constraints pi 2- m i 2- U(x 2)=0.(i=1,2), where U(x 2) is an infinite spherical square well poten-tial, is applied to the SU(4) quark model of mesons. A set of linear mass relations areobtained. Instead of the linear relation between Jand M 2, the Regge trajectory ob-tained is a relation between pnl 2and M 2, where ζnlπare zeros of the spherical Besselfunctions. The new trajectory seems more satisfactory than the former one.

THE REGGE TRAJECTORY OF MESONS AND THESU(4) MASS RELATIONS

    • Shandong University

Abstract:A relativistic equation of motion of a two particle system under the constraintspi2-mi2-U(x2)=0.(i=1,2), whereU(x2) is an infinite spherical square well poten-tial, is applied to theSU(4) quark model of mesons. A set of linear mass relations areobtained. Instead of the linear relation betweenJandM2, the Regge trajectory ob-tained is a relation betweenpnl2andM2, whereζnlπare zeros of the spherical Besselfunctions. The new trajectory seems more satisfactory than the former one.
